DFCM Conference – ‘Better together: Shaping the future of family medicine’

One of our faculty received an Art of the Possible grant from the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the University of Toronto (UofT) and surveyed graduating family doctors at the UofT to learn about their experiences and preferences for acquiring serious-illness communication knowledge and skills during their training.

We presented our findings in June 2022 at the DFCM Conference – ‘Better together: Shaping the future of family medicine’ (poster above).

We responded to what family medicine residents told us by adapting our program’s tools to help them feel better prepared to care for their patients after graduation.

We are currently evaluating these teaching tools and presented preliminary data at local and international conferences in 2023.
